Pearl Jam - The first public airing of Foo Fighters material was on Sunday January 8th 1995 on Eddie Vedder's Self Pollution Radio show.
"The first thing I remember of Pearl Jam was hearing "Alive" on the radio while I was living in Seattle. I pictured Mountain or some serious '70's throwback. The music just seemed like classic rock to me, so I pictured the singer being some husky, fuckin' bearded, leather-jacketed Tad type, big and fat and tortured and scary."
- Dave.
Puff Daddy - Dave gave 'It's All About The Benjamins' a rock remix and Puffy thanked Dave when he picked up an award for the song at the 1998 MTV awards.
"I did a remix with Puff Daddy because he wanted to get some funk music, so he called the whitest guy in the world." - Dave.
Black Sabbath - The band played the UK Ozzfest at Ozzy's request and Dave originaly intended to give 'Stacked Actors' to Ozzy. Dave also played guitar and drums on 'Goodbye Lament' on Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi's solo album.
"He's (Dave) like a cat on hot bricks, he can't sit still."
- Tony Iommi.
Pixies - Dave's a huge Pixies fan and has collaborated with Frank Black on a track for Reeves Gabrials CD.
"Frank Black is my vocal hero. And he's the best songwriter I know. You probably won't believe it but during the recording of the vocals for Enough Space he was sitting next to me. Our producer, Gil Norton, invited him. They're old friends. Norton produced many of the Pixies' records. But there he was, in the studio, when I had to sing. I was fuckin scared man! I thought: at least I have to try to impress him. So I yelled/screamed the vocals instead of singing them, Frank used to be pretty good at that. Finally I had the courage to ask him if he wanted to yell/scream along on the track, but he didn't want to. He was busy rehearsing new material and wanted to save his voice. Besides he said that the song didn't needed his voice, it was good enough. It was one of the best moments of my life: Frank Black. THE Frank Black, saying that a Foo Fighters is good enough."
- Dave.
Queens Of The Stone Age - QOTSA have supported Foo Fighters in both the UK and the US and Dave played drums on, and toured in support of, 'Songs For The Deaf'.
"We've been friends of Dave Grohl for years, and he has always been pretty supportive. One of the good things about Foo Fighters is that they always take bands that they like out on tour"
- Nick Oliveri.
Beastie Boys - Foo Fighters played 95 & 97's Tibetan Freedom Concert organised by Beastie Boy Adam Yauch. While both bands were playing the Summersault tour of Australia in 95 various Foos and Beasties hijacked the Adelaide Hiltons in-house band's equipment for a set of covers including NWA's 'Express Yourself'.
"Beastie Boys are the big thing so...what are we? We're just some mid-level arena rock band." - Dave.
REM - Michael Stipe bought Dave the shirt he wore on the bands 1999 Saturday Night Live performance.
"The first time I ever sat down with Stipe was over breakfast at his vegetarian-friendly restaurant in Athens. He had come to see our band the night before at the 40-Watt club. He turned me on to 'facon' [vegetarian bacon] and 'soysage'." - Dave
Prodigy - Foos supported the Prodigy on a few UK dates after Dave's constant praise for the band. Liam Howlett said the inspiration for Prodigy's 'Firestarter' was 'Weenie Beenie'
"They're the best rock band I've ever seen in my life. The coolest dance music, the songs are great, and you've got these really freaky- looking people onstage running around like maniacs for an hour and a half. It's the best live show I've seen in ages." - Dave
