They last played in Sunderland back in 2005, but they’re headlining the UK’s biggest free music event again on Saturday May 14th in Carlisle.

Foo Fighters will headline the NME Awards Big Gig at London’s Wembley Arena on February 25.
Cee Lo Green, Band Of Horses and No Age are also on the bill for the event.
The gig is set to take place two days after the Shockwaves NME Awards ceremony, where Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl will pick up the NME Godlike Genius award for 2011 (as covered HERE). Everyone who buys a ticket to the Wembley gig will get a free Dave Grohl ‘Godlike Genius’ magazine worth £4.99, available to pick up at the show.
“There’s nothing better than seeing that person with that instrument doing it right there in front of you, It’s the fuckin’ Foo Fighters! It’s the only way you’re really gonna get it.”
Cee Lo said:
“I’m so excited, man, any Cee Lo show is good, but Cee Lo and Foo Fighters… it’s going to be off the hook.”
When asked about covering ‘Darling Nikki’ with Foo Fighters in the past he teased;
“Dave is a friend and we spoke over the holidays, we’ll definitely cook up something for you guys.”

This Wednesday (November 11th) will see Dave grace the cover of both NME and Kerrang!
NME is running an exclusive interview with Them Crooked Vultures to promote their debut released the following week.
Kerrang! meanwhile is promoting Foo Fighters Greatest Hits by asking Dave to take a look back over his career, as well as finding out his future plans.
28th October – Dave chats on the phone to Zane Lowe.
3rd November – Foo Fighters perfom on Later w/ Jools Holland.
4th November – Dave joins Chris Moyles on the Breakfast Show.
7th November – Dermot O’Leary talks to Dave about the Greatest Hits.

Early November sees some European action from the band as they promote the release of ‘Foo Fighters: Greatest Hits’.
Foo Fighters (along with Jay Z, Norah Jones & Sting) play ‘Later Live … With Jools Holland’. The traditional longer version of ‘Later … With Jools Holland’ can be seen at 11.35pm on Friday November 6th.
Foo Fighters have been added to the bill @ MTV’s European Music Awards in Berlin. They join previously announced performers Leona Lewis, Green Day and Tokio Hotel at the event. The band are also nominated in the ‘Best Rock’ catagory & you can vote HERE.
Later with Jools Holland returns for a 10 week run on September 15th and Foo Fighters will be returning to the programme (exact date tbc) to promote their November 2nd ‘Greatest Hits’ CD.
