On August 8th 1995 while on holiday in Toronto I saw my first ever Foo Fighters gig at The Phoenix. The show was sold-out well in advance of me arriving in Toronto in July, so I turned to an ad in the free listings magazine EYE and paid $60 for a $12 ticket. Not only was it my first Foo gig, but it was my first gig ever, so the whole thing was a weird blur hightened by the fact I was doing it alone in a strange country.
While reminiscing online about the gig in 2005 it turned out Adam the guy responsible for the gig poster lived a few streets away from my Aunt & not only that but he still had a copy of the poster which he kindly sent to her.
Anyway, here are some items from the concert:

Dave Grohl turns 42 today. With a Godlike Genius Award, a ‘massive’ album & a stint with The Muppets all forthcoming, I’m sure 2011 will be a rewarding year personally & professionally.
To help his day be that little bit sweeter, why not purchase his new children’s book from Amazon:

On a totally unrelated & personal note – January 14th was the due date for our 2nd child. Now, I know I’m a big Foo Fighters fan but it was entirely coincidental – concieving a child to arrive on Dave’s birthday would be stretching this ‘fan’ thing a little too far, anyways Caoimhe (pronounced Keeva) turned up 2 days early on January 12th & weighed in at a healthy 7lb 13oz.
At approximately 3.03pm on Monday February 5th, Rory Jones checked out of the Hotel Uterus and immediately began a career as a human being. He weighed in at 6lb 06oz (606 – how about that for a tenuous Foo Fighters link?).
Expect site updates to be few and far between for the immediate future.
